The Crighton Theatre

The theatre first opened in 1934 and delighted audiences until the 1960s. After an extensive restoration that brought this little theatre into modern times with state-of-the-art sound and screen, the venue is again a centerpiece of Conroe’s downtown.

The Heritage Museum of Montgomery County
You’ll unlikely find a museum offering more “wow factor” than the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County. After all, it is the home of the Lone Star Flag!
The museum offers a variety of fascinating exhibits detailing the role of the county’s lumber and oil industries, as well as art exhibits from local artists.
William Goodrich Jones State Forest
The W.G. Jones State Forest is one of the country’s most extensive working urban forests. Its more than 1,700 acres are home to more than 250 bird species making it a prime location for birdwatchers.
Aside from its beautiful hiking trails, the forest is an invaluable source of educational resources aimed at preserving native flora and fauna through innovative forest management techniques.
If you enjoy hiking and birdwatching, we highly recommend you visit the W.G. Jones State Forest. Remember to carry insect repellent and plenty of water to stay hydrated.
The River Plantation Golf Club
If you enjoy a good round of golf, you’ll have the time of your life in Conroe.
The River Plantation Golf Club offers a spectacular 18-hole golf course and an expansive golf practice center featuring a two-tiered driving range and short game area.
Are you looking to improve your game or get your kids started on this enjoyable and skillful sport? Then look no further. This golf club offers lessons taught by top PGA and LGA teaching professionals.
Texans love lake living, and Lake Conroe is hands down the best spot for outdoor water activities.
Spend the day splashing around the park’s swimming areas, relaxing on the beach, and enjoying a day with your friends and family in the picnic areas, which feature barbecue pits and restrooms.
With 157 miles of shoreline, Lake Conroe is also a favorite spot for anyone who enjoys fishing, boating, kayaking, and paddle boarding.
Remember to wear properly fitting life jackets while out on the water. Also, stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and never go out on the water alone. Having a buddy makes your time on the water more enjoyable and helps keep you safe.

Cagle Recreation Area
If hiking, camping, and outdoor activities are your passion, then the Cagle Recreation Area is your dream come true.
Located on the shorelines of Lake Conroe on the west fork of the San Jacinto River inside the Sam Houston National Forest, the Cagle Recreation Area is a natural treasure.
A popular place for picnics, boating, fishing, and hiking, the area is also a great camping site.

Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park
The greatness of a country relies on its ability to remember and honor those who served and, through their sacrifices, helped ensure the freedoms enjoyed by us all.
That is what this small but impressive part is all about. The Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park pays tribute to all service members. However, two of its most touching sections are the POW/MIA memorial walk and the Remembered Whispers collection of wind chimes, which pays tribute to the 1,102 women who served as Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASP) in WWII.
